  • Tim Stockton aka Stockton - 2012 Technical Director
  • Ben Penna aka Penna
  • Ben Gills
  • James Lim

  • Payman Gorbhani
  • Ryan McNiece
Also this year the Department of Mechanical Engineering has very kindly sent a couple of their technicians Dave Collier, Derek Oxley, and Graeme Watsons as well as academic support Chris Rowles to help us out.

DAY 1 - SUNDAY 2ND DECEMBER 2012

To maximise our time in Melbourne, the majority of the team arrived late Sunday afternoon, with the first priority picking up our hire cars and making the trek out to our accommodation at Kimgara Park in Werribee Victoria. A huge thank you to the guys at Kimgara Park for allowing us there to stay again.

After the team got settled in, debriefing was conducted.

DAY 2 - MONDAY 3RD DECEMBER 2012

The day started early for Chris Rowles kindly picked up Payman and Candice up from the airport at 6am who had taken the red eye over.

Due to the trailer being dropped off at the transport depot later than originally anticipated the trailer was still in transit, however would be arriving tomorrow lunch time. A huge thank you to Jayde Transport for transporting our car and trailer over to Melbourne for us for more information please see their website http://www.jayde.com.au/.

As well a huge thank you to the Department of Mechanical Engineering for giving us a new trailer this year.

While the team patiently waited for the trailer to arrive, they set about remembering what components that they had accidentally left behind as well as any consumable items that we may need.

Through out the day the team also focused on preparing for the design, cost and market presentation events, with Stockton, Penna, Ben, and Geisler providing some guidance for the members who had never been to competition before on what to expect in the design event.

SAE-Australia released the static events schedule, and CMT has been extremely lucky in securing the first scrutineering spot on Friday morning 8:00am. With cost event at 10.00am, Marketing Presentation at 1:10pm and Design Event at 11:50am.

Discussions for the design event continued until the early hours of the morning with the team determined to improve upon last years score for design event.

DAY 3 - TUESDAY 4TH DECEMBER 2012

The day started out rather slowly, with team members taking advantage of the car not being here by sleeping in.

Geisler, Ben and Stockton left early armed with a shopping list of various random components, and parts that we require.

Meanwhile the rest of the team focused on further preparing for the cost, design and marketing events.

The transport company unfortunately had encountered some bad weather in the journey across which had further delayed the arrival of the car until tomorrow morning.

Regards,
